April Turner

April Turner enjoys working with children and families from all walks of life. She is trained in trauma-informed care and believes that everyone has within them the power and ability to heal. April sees her role as helping others to determine their path to healing. Her areas of interest include managing and overcoming anxiety, depression, ADHD, childhood trauma, emotional/sexual/physical abuse, low self-esteem, and faith challenges. 

April grew up in Portland, Oregon where she began her social work career while serving her home church. April “grew up in the church” in a family full of ministers and church leaders and believes counseling is her calling. April currently resides in Mesa, AZ, where she works as a full-time behavioral health therapist, with an emphasis on children and families.

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work from Portland State University

  • Social work experience in: adoption, supervised visitation, support group for disaster survival (Hurricane Katrina); and individual, family and group therapy.

  • Bachelor’s in English from Portland State University

  • Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from Portland State University
