SUMMARY We believe that integrated counseling is a redemptive means of God’s grace which we approach as through working for the Lord. (Col 3) We believe that counseling rooted in biblical truth offers the most significant opportunity for healing and growth. Our counseling will always be informed by the biblical story, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and intended to glorify God.
GOD We believe in one (Dt 6) triune God who created all things (Ge 1, 2), including people who bear his image. We are made intentionally, and God delights in us. (Zech 3, Lk 23, Ro 5)
THE BIBLE We believe the Bible is a trustworthy account (Jn 21) of God engaging with creation. (He 1) We believe the Bible is inerrant, living and active (He 4), and the root of all wisdom in life (2Tim 3).
IMAGE BEARING We believe all people are created in God’s image to bring honor to God (Ge 1).
SIN AND SALVATION We believe that original sin and the individual sins of all people (Gen 6, Ro 3, Ja 1) create discord in our relationships, impurity of thought and action, temptation to sin, and condemnation to death. (Ro 6) We believe integrated counseling helps us reflect on our stories to understand ourselves and others, our temptations, our wounds, and the impact of sin.
REDEMPTIONWe believe in redemption through Jesus Christ alone (Ro 5) and that in his death and resurrection, Jesus propitiated God’s wrath and satisfied the debt of our sin. We believe that in his resurrection, Christ demonstrated the assurance of salvation (Is 9, Ro 5) and that our individual faith in him transfers us from death to life (Jn 4, 11). We believe that integrated counseling helps people rightly understand their sin and the salvation available in Jesus Christ.
THE HOLY SPIRIT We believe in the Holy Spirit (Mt 28, Jn 14 & 16) whose primary role is maintaining our union with Christ. We believe that God works in people through his Spirit (Jn 15) and that that we are made sufficient for our work by the Holy Spirit, relying on his presence daily (Ro 8).
PRAYER We believe that prayer is powerful and effective (Ja 5) and that those who have put their faith in Christ are called to prayer (Mt 6, Ja 5). We believe that our prayers are perfected before God the Father by Jesus who intercedes on our behalf and that God’s Spirit guides us when we do not know how to pray (Ro 8). We believe that integrated counseling is aided by prayer as a means by which the counselor can grow in spiritual maturity, wisdom, and insight, and that our clients benefit from our prayers (and their own) as we appeal to God on their behalf.
